“Buhari going back to London for further medical checks” — Presidency says

There are reports that President Buhari will be going back to his London Doctors for follow-up checkups. This was revealed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu. Read Report by The Nations Newspaper Below; The Senior Special Assistant to the President on media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, on Thursday said that the plans for President Muhammadu Buhari to return to his doctors in the United Kingdom for follow-ups is still intact. On arrival in the country on March 10 after about 50 days medical vacation in the UK, President Buhari had disclosed that he will return to London after few weeks for followup on his treatment. But some media reports claimed that instead of going to back to London for the followup, the President had decided to bring his doctors to Abuja. Mallam Shehu debunked the report while speaking with journalists in Abuja. According to him, it was not true that Buhari had decided to bring his doctors to Nigeria instead of returning to London. He said, “It is false news (that Buhari is no longer going to London). We are not aware of the reported advance movements. “The last time the President spoke about this, he said he would return to his doctors after some time. “We are not aware that this has changed,” Garba stated.

Just in: Kemi Olunloyo remanded in prison again

We reported earlier that Controversial journalist, Kemi Olunloyo was granted N200,000 bail by a Chief’s Magistrate Court. Now Punch is reporting that she has been remanded in prison by a Federal High Court in Rivers state, thus denying her bail for the second time. However, charges against the Port Harcourt-based publisher, Samuel Walson, were dropped. Below is how Punch Reported it: FOR the second time in two weeks, a journalist and blogger, Kemi Olunloyo has been refused bail and remanded in Port Harcourt prison custody. This time, it was the Federal High Court in Rivers State that denied the daughter of the former governor of Oyo State and remanded her in prison after a Magistrate Court had granted her bail. However, charges against the Port Harcourt-based publisher, Samuel Walson, were dropped. As the controversy surrounding his graduation from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) continues to rise, Senator Dino Melaye (APC-Kogi) has shared a photo of his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate which showed that he completed the mandatory service in 2001.

This is probably in reaction to social media comments after ABU Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim Garba said that he graduated in 2000. Dino had earlier posted a photo of him and his colleagues during NYSC with the caption: “ABU 99 set at NYSC camp in KD. Me in blue short”. Social media commenters had questioned why he will undergo NYSC in 1999, meanwhile he graduated in 2000. He shared the photo to show that he completed the service in 2001 and not 1999 as insinuated. The senator captioned the photo: “Another Ndume lie. I finished NYSC in 2001”. Ali Ndume (APC-Borno) is the ousted former Senate leader who had raised a point of order that Melaye and Senate President Bukola Saraki be investigated by the senate’s ethics committee concerning Melaye’s certificate scandal and the alleged importation of a Bulletproof Range Rover SUV by Saraki. Lagos Man nabbed by EFCC for Conning an American Woman on a Dating Site

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on March 27, 2017, arraigned one Gbenga Yusuf John, a suspected Internet fraudsters, before Justice A. M. Nicol-Clay of the State High Court sitting in Igbosere, Lagos on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and forgery. The accused person, while posing as an American working in Nigeria, conned a U.S lady whom he met on a dating site by claiming that he owns a number of rental properties in Southwest Florida, USA. Upon their meeting, the accused person allegedly told the victim that he was currently in Africa to give aid to victims of Ebola disease and sought her assistance in managing his rental deposit while he was away. Consequently, the victim allegedly processed the rental deposits and received thousands of dollars in postal money order mailed directly to her by the accused person. The unsuspecting victim allegedly deposited all the cheques, acquired cash and then transferred the funds through Western Union to Yusuf. One of the counts reads: “Gbenga Yusuf John on or about the 26th day of February, 2006 in Lagos within the Lagos Judicial Division, had in your possession a document dated Tuesday, February 3, 2015 in which you represented yourself as James Carter, born and raised in the United State of America but presently reside in Nigeria where you are doing electronic business which representation you knew or ought to have known to be false having regard to the circumstances of this case.” The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges. In view of his plea, the prosecution counsel, M.Aliyu, asked the court for a trial date and prayed that the accused person be remanded in prison custody However, counsel to the accused, S.O. Obaje, who did object to the submissions of the prosecution, pleaded with the court for a short date to file his application for bail. After listening to both parties, Justice Nicol-Clay remanded the accused person in prison custody and adjourned the matter to June 20, 2017 for hearing of the bail application and the continuation of trial.

The Lagos State Police has recovered the real body of Dr. Allwell Orji, Medical Doctor who committed suicide by jumping off the 3rd mainland bridge into the Lagoon on Sunday Evening. Recall we earlier reported that the man asked his driver to part his jeep with Lagos Plate number LND 476 EE on the popular 3rd mainland bridge and jumped into the lagoon at around 5pm. Officials of the State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and men of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the State Police Command were at the scene of the incident. The victim named Orji, according to account by LASEMA, was said to have told the driver to park that he wanted to have a confidential discussion with his client unknown to the driver that his boss was on a suicide mission “Before I knew what was happening, my boss had jumped into the lagoon without a life jacket”, the driver was quoted by an eyewitness. LASEMA in a statement said it received distress call at about 4.50 pm, adding that preliminary investigation at the scene revealed that the man “suddenly ordered the driver to pull over, dropped from the car and suddenly jumped into the water from the bridge.”
